Chatsubo Server Rules

Welcome to Chatsubo. These rules ensure a positive experience for all players in our cyberpunk world. By playing on this server, you agree to follow these guidelines.

1. General Conduct

1.1 Respect Other Players

  • Treat all players with respect, both in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC)
  • Harassment, hate speech, or discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated
  • Disagreements should be handled maturely; contact staff if unable to resolve

1.2 No Cheating or Exploitation

  • Do not exploit bugs or glitches for personal gain
  • Report any bugs or exploits to staff immediately
  • Using automation scripts, bots, or macros to gain unfair advantages is prohibited
  • Account sharing is not permitted

1.3 One Account Per Player

  • Each player may have only one active account
  • Multiple accounts (multi-boxing) are not allowed
  • Exceptions may be granted by Sysops for testing purposes only

1.4 No Spamming

  • Do not spam commands, channels, or other players
  • Repeated commands or messages disrupt gameplay for everyone
  • Excessive use of emotes or actions may be considered spam

1.5 English Language

  • English is the primary language of the server
  • OOC communication should be in English to ensure all players can participate
  • IC use of cyberpunk slang and terminology is encouraged

2. Roleplay Standards

2.1 Stay In Character

  • Maintain character immersion in public areas
  • Keep OOC chat to designated OOC channels (use ooc command)
  • Avoid breaking the fourth wall or discussing real-world topics IC

2.2 Character Names

  • Character names must fit the cyberpunk setting
  • No offensive, inappropriate, or joke names
  • Staff reserves the right to require name changes

2.3 Roleplaying Combat and Conflict

  • Combat should be roleplayed appropriately
  • Respect the game's combat mechanics
  • "Power-gaming" (ignoring consequences or god-modding) is not allowed
  • See Roleplay Guidelines for detailed RP expectations

2.4 Mature Content

  • Chatsubo is a mature-themed game (cyberpunk noir setting)
  • Fade-to-black for explicit sexual content
  • Graphic violence should fit the setting but not be excessive
  • No content involving minors in any context

3. Communication Guidelines

3.1 Public Channels

  • Keep public channels (Gossip, Newbie) civil and helpful
  • No arguments or drama in public channels
  • Use private communication (page, whisper) for personal matters

3.2 OOC vs IC Communication

  • Use OOC channels for out-of-character discussion
  • Do not use IC channels for OOC chat
  • Respect IC/OOC boundaries

3.3 Getting Help

  • Use newbie channel for questions (all players welcome)
  • Staff are here to help - use staff to see who's online
  • Use helpdesk to file a support ticket

4. Player vs Player (PvP) Conduct

  • PvP combat must have IC justification
  • Random killing (RDM) is prohibited
  • Respect the story and roleplay around conflicts

4.2 Looting and Death

  • Follow the game's death and respawn mechanics
  • Do not camp corpses or spawn points
  • Excessive griefing will result in disciplinary action

4.3 Conflict Resolution

  • Try to resolve IC conflicts through roleplay
  • Contact staff if disputes cannot be resolved
  • Staff decisions on IC matters are final

5. Property and Economy

5.1 Fair Trading

  • No scamming or defrauding other players
  • Trades should be conducted in good faith
  • Report suspected scams to staff

5.2 Game Economy

  • Do not exploit economic systems for unfair gain
  • Currency (nuyen) is earned through gameplay, not real money
  • Selling in-game items or currency for real money is prohibited

6. Staff Interaction

6.1 Respecting Staff

  • Staff members volunteer their time to run this server
  • Respect their decisions and authority
  • Disagreements should be discussed privately and respectfully

6.2 Reporting Issues

  • Report rule violations, bugs, or concerns to staff promptly
  • Use helpdesk to file a support ticket
  • Provide details and evidence when possible

6.3 Appeals

  • Players may appeal disciplinary actions to Sysops
  • Appeals should be made via page or email
  • Remain respectful during the appeals process

7. Disciplinary Actions

Violations of these rules may result in the following actions, at staff discretion:

7.1 Warning

  • First-time or minor offenses typically result in a warning
  • Warnings are documented and may escalate to further action

7.2 Temporary Ban

  • Repeated violations or serious offenses may result in temporary bans
  • Ban duration depends on severity (hours to days)
  • Players are notified of ban reason and duration

7.3 Permanent Ban

  • Extreme violations, repeated offenses, or severe harassment result in permanent bans
  • Appeals may be considered after a minimum period (typically 30+ days)
  • Staff reserves the right to deny appeals

7.4 Account Actions

  • Character deletion for severe IC rule violations
  • Account suspension for repeat offenders
  • All disciplinary actions are documented

8. Staff Responsibilities

8.1 Fair Enforcement

  • Rules are enforced consistently and fairly
  • Staff members recuse themselves from cases involving personal conflicts
  • Disciplinary decisions are reviewed by Sysops

8.2 Player Privacy

  • Staff respect player privacy
  • Account information is confidential
  • IC information may be shared with involved parties only

8.3 Transparency

  • Rule changes are announced to players
  • Major policy updates are documented
  • Players are informed of reasons for disciplinary actions

9. Special Rules

9.1 Development Server

  • During development phases, expect bugs and changes
  • Character wipes may occur (players are notified in advance)
  • Feedback and bug reports are appreciated

9.2 Invite-Only Registration

  • Chatsubo currently operates on an invite-only basis
  • Invite codes are non-transferable
  • Sharing or selling invite codes is prohibited

9.3 Administrative Access

  • Staff characters may have special abilities for administrative purposes
  • Abuse of administrative powers is strictly prohibited
  • Report any staff misconduct to Sysops

10. Rule Changes and Updates

  • These rules may be updated as the server evolves
  • Players are responsible for staying informed of rule changes
  • Major changes will be announced via in-game announcements and website
  • Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse for violations

Reporting Violations

If you witness a rule violation:

  1. Do not engage or escalate the situation
  2. Document what happened (screenshots if possible)
  3. Contact staff immediately via page
  4. Provide details: who, what, when, where
  5. Staff will investigate and take appropriate action
