Community Standards
Chatsubo is more than just a game - it's a community of players who share a love of cyberpunk storytelling and collaborative roleplay. These standards help maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for everyone.
Our Community Values
1. Respect and Inclusivity
We Welcome All Players: - Chatsubo is open to players of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels - Discrimination, hate speech, or harassment based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other characteristic is strictly prohibited - Everyone deserves to feel safe and welcome in our community
Zero Tolerance Policy: - Hate speech results in immediate removal - No second chances for harassment or bigotry - We take reports of discrimination seriously
2. Positive Community Culture
Be Kind: - Treat others as you'd like to be treated - Assume good intentions unless proven otherwise - Help new players learn the ropes - Celebrate others' successes
Constructive Feedback: - If you have concerns, express them respectfully - Focus on behavior, not personal attacks - Give people room to learn and improve - Accept feedback gracefully when offered
Drama-Free Environment: - Keep personal conflicts private - Don't air grievances in public channels - Contact staff to mediate disputes - Don't rally others to "take sides"
3. Collaborative Gameplay
Teamwork: - Help others succeed, not just yourself - Share information and resources - Include others in roleplay and plots - Mentor newer players when you can
Inclusive Roleplay: - Don't monopolize scenes or plots - Give others opportunities to shine - Respond to others' roleplay hooks - Be willing to lose sometimes (failure creates story too)
Respect for Staff: - Staff are volunteers who keep the game running - Follow their guidance and decisions - Provide constructive feedback through appropriate channels - Offer to help if you have skills to contribute
Communication Standards
4. Public Channels
Appropriate Use: - Gossip: IC chatter, rumors, general conversation - OOC: Out-of-character chat, questions, coordination - Newbie: Help channel for new players (all welcome) - Admin: Staff announcements only
Channel Etiquette: - Keep conversations civil and friendly - Don't spam or flood channels - Respect ongoing conversations - Use private communication for sensitive topics
What Doesn't Belong in Public Channels: - Arguments or personal disputes - Explicit sexual content - Excessive profanity or vulgarity - Real-world politics or controversial topics - Advertising or self-promotion
5. Private Communication
Page and Whisper:
- Use page <player> for private messages
- Respect when someone asks for space
- Don't harass players who don't respond
- Report unwanted contact to staff
Consent and Boundaries: - Not everyone wants to RP every scenario - Accept "no" gracefully - You can decline RP without explanation - Staff can help mediate if needed
Conflict Resolution
6. Handling Disagreements
IC vs OOC Conflict: - In-character conflict is part of roleplay - Out-of-character conflict should be resolved maturely - Never let IC conflict bleed into OOC relationships - If unsure, talk it out OOC
Steps to Resolve Conflict: 1. Pause: Step back if emotions are running high 2. Communicate: Try to discuss the issue calmly and privately 3. Listen: Understand the other person's perspective 4. Compromise: Find a solution that works for both parties 5. Move On: Don't hold grudges once resolved
When to Involve Staff: - When direct communication fails - When someone violates rules - When harassment occurs - When you need a neutral mediator
7. Staff Mediation
How It Works:
- Contact staff via helpdesk (support tickets)
- Explain the situation objectively
- Provide evidence if available (screenshots, logs)
- Follow staff guidance
What Staff Can Do: - Mediate disputes between players - Clarify rules and expectations - Issue warnings or disciplinary actions - Facilitate IC solutions to IC problems
What Staff Cannot Do: - Force players to be friends - Undo IC consequences of IC actions - Take sides based on personal relationships - Violate player privacy
Player Expectations
8. New Player Welcome
Helping Newcomers: - Answer questions patiently - Offer guidance without being condescending - Remember what it was like when you were new - Encourage and support new roleplayers
New Player Responsibilities: - Ask questions when confused - Read documentation and help files - Be patient with yourself while learning - Accept guidance from experienced players
9. Experienced Player Leadership
Leading by Example: - Model good roleplay and behavior - Mentor newer players - Support staff and community initiatives - Contribute to a positive culture
With Experience Comes Responsibility: - Don't abuse your knowledge for OOC advantage - Help staff identify issues or concerns - Foster inclusive, welcoming roleplay - Don't gatekeep or exclude others
10. Staff and Player Relations
Staff Transparency: - Rules are applied consistently - Disciplinary actions are explained - Policy changes are announced - Feedback is welcomed
Player Trust: - Staff act in good faith for community benefit - Report issues honestly and promptly - Respect staff time and effort - Participate in community discussions
Moderation and Enforcement
11. Reporting Violations
How to Report:
- Use helpdesk for immediate issues
- Provide details: who, what, when, where
- Include evidence if possible (screenshots, logs)
- Be honest and objective
What Happens Next: - Staff will investigate the report - Involved parties may be contacted - Action will be taken based on severity - Reporter will be updated on outcome (within privacy limits)
Confidentiality: - Reports are kept confidential - Only relevant staff see report details - Retaliation against reporters is prohibited
12. Progressive Discipline
Typical Progression: 1. Verbal Warning: For minor first-time offenses 2. Formal Warning: Documented, more serious 3. Temporary Suspension: Hours to days, depending on severity 4. Extended Suspension: Weeks for serious violations 5. Permanent Ban: Reserved for extreme cases or repeat offenders
Factors Considered: - Severity of violation - Intent (accidental vs deliberate) - Player history and track record - Impact on other players - Remorse and willingness to improve
Appeals Process: - Players may appeal to Sysops - Provide your perspective calmly and respectfully - Additional evidence may be requested - Sysop decision is final

Special Circumstances
16. Real-Life Comes First

Courtesy: - Let people know if you'll be gone long-term (optional but appreciated) - Wrap up ongoing plots if possible - Don't leave others hanging mid-scene
17. Mental Health and Well-Being
Take Care of Yourself: - Step away if the game becomes stressful - Don't let IC drama affect your real life - Seek help if you're struggling (in real life, not just in-game) - Staff can accommodate needs when possible
Looking Out for Each Other: - Be kind and supportive - Don't pressure others - Respect boundaries - Remember: it's just a game
18. Privacy and Safety
