The Chatsubo tutorial is a guided introduction to the game's core mechanics and cyberpunk atmosphere. This walkthrough explains what you'll learn and provides tips for completing it successfully.
Starting the Tutorial
From anywhere in the game, type:
tutorial
This will transport you to the tutorial area. The tutorial remembers your progress, so you can leave and return anytime without losing your place.
Pro tip: Use the hint command in tutorial rooms if you get stuck. It provides progressive hints (levels 1-3) to help you figure things out without spoiling the experience.
What the Tutorial Teaches
The tutorial consists of multiple interconnected rooms, each focusing on a different aspect of gameplay:
1. Introduction
What you'll learn:
- Welcome to the world and setting
- Basic orientation to the tutorial system

Tips:
- Take your time reading the room descriptions
- Get a feel for the cyberpunk atmosphere and writing style

2. Movement and Navigation

3. Communication

- Speaking out loud with say
- Roleplaying actions with emote (or /me)
- The difference between in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) communication
Tips:
- Practice descriptive emotes—show, don't tell!
- Example: Instead of emote is nervous, try emote shifts uncomfortably, eyes darting around the room
- Get comfortable with emotes—they're key to good roleplay
4. Inventory Management
What you'll learn:
- Checking your inventory with inventory (or i)
- Picking up items with loot
- Dropping items with drop
- Examining items with examine
